What’s in a name? – Cascade Mountain

Cascade

The Native American name for this mountain, just outside of the town of Banff was “Mountain where the water falls” for the tall waterfall that can be seen even today cascading down the mountain as one drives along the Trans-Canada highway in Banff National Park. In 1858, Sir James Hector gave the abbreviated translated name to the peak.
